The Fox News version of that article called him a marksman...then proceeded to say it took 150rds of ammo...

Glad they saved the eagle, but it had nothing to do with marksmanship...it's called ODDS.

That's a waste of 22 ammo...they should have found some kid to climb that tree like a spider monkey, and snip the rope.

Saw the film clip this morning. Ruger 10/22 and 150+ rounds. Gamewardens were there at the scene and approved the action. Local PD and fire dept was there too. It was just one 2" branch he was trying to break.

I'm glad he got it down. Fitting for the 4th of July and second amendment rights.

Shoulda used a Barrett 50BMG. Would have only needed one round.

Cool story, I'm sure they fired from the best angle for safety. Why wouldn't you?

And, forgot to say that when I read the thread title, was expecting the worst--another PTSD article, etc. Glad to see/read it turned out on the good side and not the dark side.

Got a link to the shooting video?
I'd like to see why it took 150 shots the break a 2" limb.

It's a good rescue story for the 4th of July, but how is it good or bad for the 2A?

Under the current adminstration's rule this would be considered a marksman because everyone deserves a fair chance.

                            It was on NBC.

And it'd take a lot of .22 LR to bust a 2" limb. If ya haven't tried it on green round wood limb, you need to try it. Heck, try it on a wooden dowel rod at 25 yards. Get one from your local Home Depot. Ruger was a SS model. He dose admit to not being the best shot. And took some to start hitting it right.

As for the 2A, I just find it ironic with all the negative hype we deal with on a daily basis from the antis, that it happens on the 4th July weekend too. If we did not own firearms back when our country decided to fight for it's independence, then our country might have had a tougher battle on it's hands. This incident is just another good use of a fire arm. Ans why citizens should be allowed to own such.
