Yes, I would not be walking if I did not have a great chiropractor.
Stretching and walking helps a bunch. I am not a candidate for surgery.

Chiropractic? it really depends on the source of the sciatica. If your nerve impingement is disc/vertebrae related it might help. If you are experiencing piriformis related sciatica then stretching and strenghtening is your cure. Chiro, inversion table, spinal decompression are not going to help the muscle. One is a back problem and one is a butt problem.

I'm not a doctor, didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but in the 80's I did alot of marathoning and worked myself into one of the worst cases of sciatica known to man. It took awhile, but I finally stretched my way out of it. If you sit alot, make it part of your daily routine and believe me, maturity doesn't help the elasticity of those muscles.

This is a great test also to see if piriformis related.

I have recently been affected by it and my Dr. asked to look at my wallet. He said the wallet is too thick and places undue pressure, which can cause the pain. I take my wallet out when sitting or driving and that alone has helped immensely.

          Best of luck.

Physical therapy to get me to walking again and yoga keeps the pain away.

Pretty much the worst pain I've ever experienced. I was down and out for about 2 months one summer until I finally had surgery. Everyone is different. Best of luck finding out what works best for you. I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on anyone.

I jump a fence a long time ago chasing a burglar. I didn't realize it was a lot farther down on the other side of the fence because it was dark. I crushed the discs in L4 and L5. I was literally paralyzed from the pain. I spent 3 months in bed trashed out on pain meds. The next 3 months was steroid injections into the spine and physical therapy. I am convinced that was the only path to get me walking again.

I urge you to go see a specialist and get real spot on professional help. I was so far gone on pain meds I slipped into a deep dark deppression. Never again! If it happened tomorrow, I am headed right back to the same peoples.

I'm dealing with it now for the last 2 months. Always had back problems, but this was completely different. Haven't hardly been able to put weight on my right leg for 2 months for the first part of the day. Chiropractor has always helped tremendously, but after a month of treatment, it hadn't got any better. Soma muscle relaxers, pain killers and anti-inflammatories did nothing. Finally went and had an MRI done Monday and I have a near herniated disc at my L5/L4. Waiting on appointment for the epidural steroid injection. It should work. I've had them in the past and they do wonders. The oral steroids didn't do anything for me.

Get an MRI, it will really show what's going on back there.

                    I didn't know he was a chiropractor.
I may have to give him a shot.

That is right where it hurt the most, been carrying my wallet in my front pocket for over a month and haven't really noticed much of a difference I was hoping that was the problem. It did get me to clean out the wallet it wasn't because it was full of hundred dollar bills.

Suffered for years with low back pain and sciatica. Traditional Chiropractors didn't help me, finally went to see an Airrosti practitioner. Diagnosed my problem, tortured me in three separate sessions for about 30 min each and then had me work with his physical therapist for 30 min each time where I learned how to stretch correctly to keep the muscle imbalance from recurring. Three visits and I was done. Now whenever I start to feel it coming back, it just reminds me to get back on my stretching regimen. Life changer.
