    Feather fletching

Anyone fletch their arrows with feathers? Just curious. They seem to have their advantages. All of mine are Blazer vanes.

I do, but I'm pretty old school.

Most of mine are 4" parabolic cut feathers. I do have a few arrows with Blazers.

I'm not fond of the noise feathers make in flight and how they handle heavy rain.

I do... but I shoot traditional bows off the shelf.

If I were still shooting a compound, I'd stick with plastic vanes because they don't react to rain like feathers do.

I still use them, and prefer them to vanes

Advantages include decreasing total arrow mass weight, increasing FOC and providing generally provide better fletching influence over conventional vanes.

Disadvantages include cost, base variation feather to feather and having to treat them for rain usage.

IMO feathers generate a tad more audible noise than vanes but not enough to turn me away from them. I shoot both and will probably continue to do so.

I do - and love it. I use the gateway 2" shield cuts, and I canno complain at all. For me. I fletched several different style on my hunting arrows, 4" feather, 4" vane, 2" Blazers, 2" fearthers and then shot them all with my fixed blade razorcaps and hartcrafts - that made my decision for me. My rig meshed best with that setup. I would encourage you to do the same- find the fletch ing that gets the max performance out of your bow, your rst and your brdhds.
