    The Job Interview

    Interview didn't go to well...

Interview: "Sir, what is one of your major weaknesses?"

Me: "Mmmm, I'd have to say my honesty."

Interviewer: " But sir, I don't think there's anything wrong with being honest."

Me: "You know what? I don't really give a **** what you think."

How many years of experience do you have?

      30

But it says here you're only 25, how is that possible?

I work a lot of overtime

I really hate when I get that question at an interview. What's you biggest weakness? You always have to try and turn it around into something positive which is so cliché.

"If anything I am so detailed oriented sometimes it makes me too good at my job" BS

My 14yr old daughter had an interview for a highly coveted athletic training assistant position for her upcoming freshman year. They told her the morning of that they would be interviewing, so she had no time to prepare and was crazy nervous. One of the questions was "what are your hobbies or what do you like to do in your spare time"? Without skipping a beat or thinking about it the first thing out of her mouth was "I like to sleep". Apparently they appreciated her honesty because she was picked for a position.

I'm curious about something. Let's say you are interviewing for a some kind of financial job at a big corporation, and in an interview, you are asked what your hobbies are. Would you come out and say, "my two favorite things are hunting and fishing", or would you leave that out? Would you be afraid that whoever is interviewing you may take offense to that, or would you go in with the attitude that if they don't like it, you wouldn't want to work there anyway?

I know most people on here will say I'll tell them I like hunting and fishing and if they don't like it they can go jump off a bridge. But in reality, when your family's financial future is on the line, most people will say something a little more generic and leave it open to interpretation. Something like, I love anything to do with the outdoors.

I am an accountant in Oil and Gas. I work for and have worked for other corporations large and small. In this industry it is smiled upon, in fact usually after it is brought up it is all the interview then revolves around. I was brought back at one place for the final phase interview with a VP and his first question was "do you fish?" The entire interview then was only about white bass fishing on lake Livingston.

All solid answers. Thanks. Just something I've been wondering now that I'm contemplating sending some resumes out. Where I'm working now, a lot of people share in the same hobbies or at least understand them. I know that's not always the case out there.

Usually say I love the outdoors. Go in a little depth but stay vague and leave it open for interpretation
