since its getting too hot for my liking to fish and still a few months away from bow-season, I figure I might as well spend some time sweating adding on to our back porch. first I plan on building a pergola and then a flagstone porch underneath. im wanting it about 10x16. cedar of course is my first choice of wood, but due to cost and possible difficulty of getting 16' 2x8s, I'm considering using treated pine. ive done some research and i understand it is good to let it dry for a couple months-up to 1 year before staining. my concern is it warping, like i see so often on privacy fences. has anyone got any experience with treated pine? trying to save a few $$ to have some spare $$ to put towards my VRO that needs replacing on the bass boat.

I have built many a pergola/arbor over a 10 year period and I personally would never use treated wood unless it was going underneath a deck or as the deck board themselves and they were screwed down and not nailed. A lot of the treated is not like it use to be, not near as much water still dripping off it when you buy it, but it will still warp. We have had good luck using treated as a deck surface, but not anywhere else like you are talking about. I think you are asking for some serious warp over time with a 16' 2x8.
