I hunt primarily spot and stalk and shoot a single pin. Your assumption is to be able to shoot with that sight, you have to move it for every range. Right now I'm sighted-in and tuned for our deer season. With the pin at 30 yards and dead-on, at 15 I'm about 2" high. I generally don't take shots longer than 30 yards, but at 35 I'd guess 1-2" low. On such a large kill zone, it will not matter.

But, if you're used to multiple pins, I would stay with it.

Check the other elk threads on TBH, there's an amazing amount of experience posted. My advise, pay attention to your feet, and if you're hunting at 8k feet elevation or higher (easy in Colorado), consider seeing your Dr. for an Rx to a med called Diamox to prevent altitude sickness. You need to start it before you're at altitude, and my buddy who lived in Crested Butte (8k plus feet) said he had multiple friends visit him and there was no pattern to who would get headaches and nausea from the elevation- sometimes little kids, sometimes big guys.

My 2 cents, which cost you nothing!

I shoot Spott Hog seven deadly pins, top 4 pins are .19 bottom 3 pin are .10. Know your bow and be accurate out to 80 yards. I have had a lot of success using these sites. Good Luck!

Yup I learned this the hard way on a 370+ bull

An elk has a pretty big kill zone. If he's at 40 and you shoot him set at 30 that's still a kill.

I was tuning broadheads today. Single pin Copper John sight.

Both arrows shot at 20 yards.

Lower arrow- pin set at 20 yards.
Upper arrow- pin set at 30 yards.

With my pin at 30 yards, I can shoot 30 yards or less without moving it. I've missed multiple shots not taken while watching the animal move away through my range finder.

Shoot what you're most comfortable using.
