Is anyone here a living donor? My Aunt is on dialysis and my Dad wants to get tested to see if he's compatible as a donor for her. I don't know anything about the process. I'm just worried that he's not gonna have the best and worst case scenarios explained in their entirety. Is there a good reliable source of information about this type of procedure?

My wife got tested to be a donor for her dad, she was rejected. When we went they did a LOT of tests, every question was answered and every scenario was explained. They will not do it unless the donor can live with one kidney. When you take one, the other increases in size to make up for the other one. We learned a lot.

Already running on 1 kidney myself. Cancer got the other one. No issues whatsoever, yet. Lots of dont's, and do's. Only 4 months though. Good luck.Comment
