My 17 year old daughter and her friends want to make a day trip to the springs tomorrow. 172 miles from my door My question is, what kind of crowd will they encounter when they get there? Is it safe?
I went two summers ago. It's safe. Family and friend groups and people mostly keep to their own group. But there's bound to be a few guys checkin' out the girls.
Yeah, I checked out the web site and google searched images to see how many party pics there were. Things always look better on the web though.
I think Momma just shut the idea down. We went easy and didn't make her get a job this summer because of some school activites and volunteering stuff but she thinks its just a free pass to do whatever now. I don't blame her
Um...that would be a big negative. Lots of dope smoking and drunks.. I took my wife and kids and it was not the crowd we were looking for. I definitely wouldn't want my daughter frequenting this place unless I was there, but I'm probably overprotective. If you or some other responsible adult is going than sure. I would definitely not let my daughter make that trip alone or with just friends.

MY kinfolks own Krause springs. That makes me sad if that is true. I haven't
been there in a long time. Elton and I are first cousin's and don't think that would have been allowed when he was alive. My other uncle Preston Krause
ran a store close to Krause springs many years ago. My dad's (
Carl Krause) family farmed in that area before wwII
Been to Krause Springs many times, last time was summer 2015. While the owner/manager can't curb all the dope heads or drunks based on the way the lay of the land is. If they were enforcing anything by the time they go down the hill, across the creek and to where the dopers hang all the paraphernalia would be gone or hidden...there's a definite reason the local stores sell shirts that say "Spicehood" and not name of area "Spicewood"...
We were there a couple weeks ago & it wasn't busy but did notice a few people drinking & smoking.
As a first time visitor, it mostly was occupied by families that evening
Had friends their last weekend. They face timed us a few times. At least the area they were in was all families with kids. We booked a rv spot for August.

It's virtually impossible to keep out certain clientele, without causing prices to go way up. I am sure the business owners are not promoting these things, but a cheap place to stay cool in summer time is a big plus for the young partying crowd. (Maybe I'm just getting old. When I was younger being around people stoned and drunk never, ever bothered me, but now that I have children, I try to avoid these situations)
Well, in the end we gave in and I'm glad. She's my only daughter (the other is with Jesus) and ahe got a chance to experience a memory that will stay with her. They had a blast and she said it was very much dominated by families. Only negative was the sunburn.
