New to archery, what should I get to start out?

Hey everyone, I would really appreciate any knowledge on the type of bow/gear I should get for target practice.

I have approximately $200 to spend.

Not opposed to buying used equipment. Looking into compound, my draw is 29.6

Welcome to the fire bud. I would definitely look towards getting a decked out used bow for that price. It's going to be tough, but I bet you can find something. Get your post count up, or buy a membership so you can access the classifieds. Bows will be listed there pretty regular.

You looking towards a Compound, or traditional? Any idea on what your draw length is?

Probably need a little more info. In your price range you'll probably want to look at used bows if you want a compound, traditional archery you could get a decent new set up for around your budget. I'd suggest going to a bow shop and getting your draw length measured and see what weight you are comfortable with to get started. But welcome, this is a great place to learn.

Buy something where the draw length can be changed without using a press or changing cams but steer clear of the one-size-fits-all-never-buy-another bow.
