How do you guys with a gas grill cook your brisket?

I've read some of the BBQ threads and most of it is for smokers. Do you use a smoker box with wood chips? How well does that work for you? Thanks in advance. Jason

I don't do brisket on a gas grill, but you may check out this for some tips:

You can set up a gas grill to get excellent smoke roasted barbecue if you know how. Here's how gas grills work, the best setups, and how to maintain them.

I have used them before if I wanted some smoke on the grilled food. My cousin however can make ribs on a gas grill that are pretty darn good. He only ignites one side and he actually just puts wood chips in foil. Smokes really good

I'm thinking most of um do it in the oven. Probably better to check out NewYork Bowhunter for that recipe.

Yeah if it was me and I was going to do 12-15 hours on a gas grill, you might as well do it in the oven. You would burn through a lot of gas and wood chips.....and there is no telling how a thick chunk of tough meat would turn out..

Ribs are a different story because you are doing 4-5 hours max, you are looking for a lighter smoke and they are a much thinner piece of meat.

We don't. We have a smoker. Like any man should.

IF your only option to smoke a brisket is a gas grill then save your self and go buy one of the HEB fully cooked and sliced brisket. I was surprised how good they actually were the last time we had one.

If I didn't have a smoker to do a brisket on, I would probably ask my wife's boyfriend to borrow his just kidding, I wouldn't do it on a gas grill, meat would be tough, I don't think it would turn out right.

Started thinking about this, and I want to make sure you know the smiley face means I am joking. Didn't want anyone to get mad.

I think you would probably start a massive grease fire, that's a lot of fat that's going to cook off a brisket down around open flames.

Holland grill. Put it in and don't take it out until it's done.

                          " If you're lookin', you aint cookin' ! "
