pick your own Hog?

I enjoy hunting for hogs that are running wild. Someday I hope to catch one..... is there a hog farm near Houston where I can buy said hog and clean and process it myself. I have been lead to understand wild hogs don't make good bacon. I also thought this may be a good way to learn how to field dress a hog as I have not had the opportunity yet.

But if you wanted to try on the real thing just buy any pig and take him out to the house and shoot him in the head. A pig is a pig is a pig.

Where do I buy the pig? I have not field dressed anything. I've been almost entirely self taught with hunting and fishing....it's been a veeeerrrrryyy slow process... lol

I got a buddy outside of Brenham who sells show pigs. Now and then hes got some culls that don't get bought.

There is a butcher shop in Brookshire that sell whole hog or just the pork bellies for bacon. J&J Packing.

You can come field dress and clean all you want for us in Bastrop and Dimmitt Counties(as with everyone else in Texas). Take all you want and we will give u free tips on processing techniques. You just cant keep the tails(lol). If they are not perfect to put on the pit then they should be acquit.
