    Which broadhead should i choose

Not trying to start the great debate. I shoot a PSE Stinger x at 27 inch draw @ 72lbs. Im shooting a Gold tip hunter 366 Grains at 274 fps. I have a pack of rage hypodermics and a pack of Grim reaper razor tip. Not sure if 1 3/8 or 1 3/4. I have shot a doe with a hypodermic and was impressed, but i was thinking of going to the grim reaper. I tested both thru a target and both hit like my field points. The only problem i noted was that the grim reaper would not fully deploy all 3 blades untill 2 inches into soft foam target, while my rages would open fully while entering. Is this just because of my target? Anyway my question is which do yall suggest in using to hunt dear and hog and which do you believe would yield better results.

    Thanks in advance!

Grim Reaper just came out with a new one, the carni-four. Look it up that thing looks bad to the bone!

Deer grim reapers. Pigs, I like slick tricks but rage should suffice.

Curious... how do you know how far the broadhead went into the target before fully deploying? It doesn't sound like you are using clear ballistic gel and a camera.

Given those two choices, I'd choose the reapers. For whatever my opinion is worth.

My target is a about 1 inch thick foam sheets banded together, so i am able to check entrance and exit of each layer.

Why the change of heads between each animal? Less SA for the rage going thru the shield?

So you unstacked them and checked after the shot??? Thats cool. I guess you should have seen it increase and then decrease as it opened and then folded back before hitting the stop.

Were you using the chisel point or cut on contact point?

Edit, I see you use the coc razortip.

For the most part yea, it has alot of holes in it from target shooting. Im just worried that it wont open on contact like the say. Im roughly shooting 60ke and i just wont to make sure it will do the work im paying for.

Look... you always run the risk of any mechanical not opening. It is never a guarantee. The thing I didn't like about mechanicals is they can fold close easily on the way back out if you don't get two holes. I want a broadhead to rattle around if I don't get 2 holes... not just slip back out like a feild point. You have plenty of KE to open them... the question is do you have enough KE to push a wide diameter through the animal.

60 should be more than enough for the 1 3/8.

I've shot hundreds of animals with rages and the hypo has been my go to head. I've never shot the reaper because rage has just been fine for me for a number of years.

I never . . . . not a single time have had a malfunction i'd attribute to it being a mechanical. Wrong spot, bad shot absolutely

This. But I haven't killed that many animals with them

A sharp, well built head that flies like a filed point out of your set up and you have confidence in. Nothing more, nothing less!

Is that arrow weight including the broadhead?
