TPWD draw hunts

What's average # of pp needed for the rifle mule deer hunt? Have 3 plus this yrs appl, decent odds? Does it take 5+,10+? Thanks.

I have 4. Not expecting to draw for many more years. At least for rifle. Archery hunts dont seem to have too terrible odds.

I've got three preference points in some categories (including mule deer). Four in many others. I have yet to draw a hunt in any category. I'm hoping this is the year!!!

No way to know for sure. They are loyalty points not preference points. Still just a lottery drawing. And odds are getting worse every year.

What noodler said. The loyalty points only increase your chances in the lottery but in no way guarantee a spot. It used to be that you had to pick only one hunt per category to apply for so the number of the names it the hat for each hunt was greatly reduced. Now you can apply for every hunt in every category and it waters down your chances. It really makes the points pointless.

I would say start getting excited by around year 7-8 from past experience

I have paid his fee for every Hunt application we have put in together so he is fine with it.

Add a point only option and it will help out actual hunter odds.
