TPWD Draw Hunts - Compartment Size?

For the public draw mule deer hunts, how big are the compartment areas? I realize they may vary by management unit, but are we talking just a stand? hundreds of acres? thousands of acres? Basically do you have enough room to hike/scout/stalk?

Has anyone done the mule deer hunts and can provide a report on their thoughts?

Compartments are pastures. They are all different sizes.

I hope to find out one year...I k ow for the compartment hunts I've been on it varies usually a few hundred acres but that's whitetail I'm thinking muledeer would be larger? Should be able to go d a map somewhere, they send maps to those drawn to study the compartment before you pick them (at least the ones Ive been drawn for)

At Yoakum Dunes I had the whole place to myself.

At Matador a few years back I had Lone Canyon to myself (archery). I don't know how big it was but it was at least a couple of thousand acres, I believe.

The Big Time hunt in December is a better hunt it you can get it. In the November hunt the biologist kept on wanting me to shoot a cull even though we saw a nice buck at dusk of the second day. Still a great experience though.

Jeez. I've been to two of the places that offer mule deer hunts. At matador your looking at 1-2k tops.
When we hunted big bend we had one of the mid sized compartments, and it was over 28,000 acres
