    Question about hogs...

So heading into my 6th season at our current lease, I have finally seen evidence of hogs. Lots of evidence. HUGE patches of torn up earth across the main pasture.
Now, I'll admit that I'm a little excited about this because I've always wanted hogs to throw an arrow at in the off season.

My question is this. Will they stick around or have they just been moving through following the flooding the area has experienced? The area around our lease have been "covered up in hogs" according to the guys at the local feed store but we've never caught a single picture of them in 6 years.

I know it's not an easy question to answer but I'd appreciate you sharing your experience.

Congratulations. Now you will need to fence in your feeders, protect food plots.

Haha we already have some pretty stout pens built because cattle free range the property too.

Put out the magic corn throwing tree and set the timer for dusk. Give it a few weeks and then ease out there down wind and get ready for some hog action. If they've torn up the ground then they are in the area. And they get stupid sometimes when there's free and easy corn around.

Simple answer: The pigs move in and out following food and water.

That is really a hard question to answer, if they do not have access to your feed and there is not a constant water supply then odds are they will come and go. On the other hand, if you have ample water sources and plenty of available food options odds are that they will stick around.

In my opinion though if ya'll haven't had em for 6 years and your neighbors have been saying for years that everywhere around you is "ate up with em" it makes me think that ya'll do not have the most desirable land for them and they are staying elsewhere for whatever reason and simply moving through your property.

Do as quarterback stated above. If there is a constant food source they will keep coming back for that corn. Try to put it where the cattle don't usually go, in a thicket or something and let that feeder rock, maybe get some sour mash in there to help them find it.

This! In your area, they are most likely moving through. They will tear up a lot of land in just one or two nights, then you may not see them again for weeks-months.

I'd hunt them now, if you really want to shoot one.

I'm hopeful that tomorrow night I can break free.
