It clearly says Murphy btw. This thread made me pull it up on Spotify. Murphy plain as day.

Never been a Luke Bryan fan myself. Really started to loathe him though about this time last year when he made his comments about Merle, Willie and Waylon and "outlaw country".

To paraphrase what he said then, it was basically along the lines of outlaw country only being about "laying in the gutter, strung out on drugs."

Sure, it is pretty well known some of those guys battled addiction over the years. But at least their music had heart and soul, and wasn't a commercialized advertisement pumped out by Nashville and iHeartMedia.

Luke Bryan backed off of those comments and apologized to Waylon's family, so I give credit to him for that I guess. And I "guess" you can give him credit for what he does for the outdoor and hunting community. But I'll just turn the station when artists like him, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line come on and sing the same songs with the same melodies and themes over and over again.

Not knocking anyone enjoying what's on the radio today, but this youtube video just about sums up how it all sounds the same.

About 40 years ago Waylon put out "Luckenbach Texas". Does anyone really think 40 years from now we will be listening to anything like this that is on the radio today?

My 9 year old daughter likes luke bryan.
even she's wondering why a grown man is dissecting his song lyrics.

And people wonder why I don't listen to modern country.

He just one of many reasons that I won't listen to "modern country" radio. 8 out of 10 songs are crap imo. It's a big source of jokes around our house when some city boy starts singing about huntin', fishin', and red dirt roads. I actually grew up on red dirt roads and love to hunt and fish but don't care to see some dude in skinny jeans trying to sing about something he has no clue about. If people like that stuff then that's great, but please don't call it country. It's an insult to Merle, George, Willie, and a host of other guys. One of the few new guys I actually like is Chris Stapleton (even though he's really not new...check out The Steeldrivers).

Think its called "bro country" or something now right? Either way I don't listen to any of it. Here in Houston we got 97.1 classic country and that holds me over until I can get on my spotify for some red dirt local country.

Yes sir...97.1 for me as well if I listen to a local station. No Luke Bryan or Sam Hunt!
