Prayers for some young men

Just got word that my doctor's son (same age as my twins) was running a marathon today when he and two other young men were struck by a motorist who ran a red light.

Jay has two broken legs and is in surgery now to put a rod in one of them. The other one will need surgery too.

I don't know the condition of the other two men.

Car hits pedestrians near White Rock Lake; 3 people, driver hurt

A motorist lost control of her vehicle this morning, injuring three pedestrians who had participated in a half-marathon at White Rock Lake, police said.

The three, and the driver, were hospitalized, including a man who was taken to Baylor University Medical Center Dallas in serious condition, police said. The driver and the two other pedestrians were hospitalized with what are believed to be less serious injuries, police said.

The accident occurred about 11:30 a.m. following the Dallas Running Club Half Marathon and 5K, police said. The vehicle was heading northbound on East Northwest Highway when the brakes apparently failed and the car struck three adults waiting to cross the street at the intersection with North Buckner Boulevard, police said.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
