    Bush hog or spray first?

Now that my 8 acre pasture is dry, I need to spray and kill some weeds and it needs mowing. Do I spray first and then mow or mow and then spray?

Most herbicides I have used says to not mow first, But being the none direction follower that I am I've done it both ways and the stuff I sprayed died so that's the extent of my knowledge to share.

You wouldn't want to mow about 14 days before or after spraying.

mostly weeds and a little bermuda, trying to get it in to shape to hold a couple cows.

Just mow it. That steel and heat will kill the weeds.

This. May have to mow it more than once as wet as it is this year, but mowing promotes bermuda grass growth and discourages weed growth for cheaper than spraying. Win-win !

Yep that is the route I would go. How many cows do you plan on putting on the 8 acres? I was at the auction yesterday and you can get some good cows for a good price. I know they aren't popular for beed breeds but a Longhorn pair sold for 900 bucks yesterday. I wouldn't mind have some yard ornament like that.

Mowing stimulates everything to grow, including weeds.

I'd spray it and be done.

Bigger weeds = more surface area for the chemical to absorbed

Grass has more roots than weeds, weeds die much quicker after you cut most of them off, especially in hot weather.

Spray it. Allow the chemical to do its thing for a couple weeks and then mow it. You could keep mowing it over and over but chemical works.

I'll stick to my 15 years of pasture renovation and spray every time. It takes me all day to mow 100 acres but just a few hours to spray. Then I have nothing growing in my pastures competing for fertilizer and water besides grass.

You spot spraying or broadcasting full coverage?

I'm spraying every square inch of the pastures the best I can. We use a 25 gal 4 wheeler mounted sprayer that works well for the rougher terrain but mainly use a large pull behind tank sprayer to cover lots of ground.
