Mason Mountain is on the $10/chance draw just like bighorn sheep I believe

I put in for Garner for the kids every year and they never got drawn for a youth hunt there

Like beardedbrazos said, if you really want to kill an axis book a hunt with someone

I've never put in for exotics, so I don't have points. I'm just playing the lottery. What I don't want is to draw to hunt aoudads and pigs, which I can do any time. I would like to shoot axis, so I will put in for places that have axis.

I have been drawn for a couple of exotic hunts. First hunt was Devils river. Got an Axis and sika. Tough hunting, but was a blast.

Second time was Llano River WMA. Got skunked. Well maybe not skunked, killed some free range Billy Goats. It was stand hunting. At the time the park was open to the public, so we could not hunt there. All the Axis went down there. You would drive through the herd getting to the WMA. There were a bunch out there, they just were in the park with little kids feeding them apples. Not where we were.

We have been putting in every year since around 1991. Been drawn probably ten times through the years for different hunts.

Guadalupe river state park. I got a spike and three other guys got spikes too. I just tanned the hide. It was the only one I saw so I don't know how many big ones they have. About a mile outside the park was several and one was a monster

Yes, but I apply for all those around my parts soooooo I ain't telling..... Kidding, kidding.
The one's I apply for off the top of my head, Goverment Canyon, Guadalupe State Park, Honey Creek (shot an axis doe a few years ago), a couple in Kerr County...

When I went on my Mason Mountain hunt, during the briefing while going over bag limits, coordinator said we were allowed one Axis, "but you won't see one so don't worry about waiting for one to show up."

If you have the option, offer to trade an aoudad hunt for axis hunt. Probably somebody in a similar situation that wants to hunt aoudad but all they have is axis and pigs
I would go this route if I had anything anybody else wanted to hunt. But I don't
