How long should a 55 gallon feeder last?

Like others have said, Eliminators work great. The only way to determine how long the feeder will last is to start by making sure it is coon/bird proof. I have had 55 gallon feeders last over 2 months when they are coon proof feeding 5 seconds twice a day. IMO the best thing to do is buy a 700lb or 1200lb Krivoman corn feeder and you can feed for over 6 months without touching it.Last edited by roysmoke; 06-05-2016, 06:34 AM.

Then it's back on the protein. Now there's a never ending problem....coons on the protein feeder.
To the op, as others have said it varies by spinner gap from barrel and run time. You need to measure what you're throwing.
I do have a question, are you trying to make it last a certain length of time or just an idea as to when you should return. I adjust my feeder based on what the deer are eating. I have a fairly low deer density and if I feed too much it will become a free choice feeder allowing then to go nocturnal. If there's corn piled up under the feeder I turn it down. If none under the feeder I turn it up.Last edited by Slick8; 06-05-2016, 06:52 AM.

We have six feeders on my lease with four types of feeders
I try to coordinate all of them to throw the same amount for trips for refilling
We feed 5-6 seconds twice a day and the last 5-6 weeks.
PVC pipes on each and no coon photos on the cages.
Trick is to feed early enough and late enough to feed deer instead
Hot batteries throw more corn.
