You do know Axis breed all year long? Like pigs and cattle. Not like deer, sheep or goats.

Yes they do however most bucks are hard horned this time of year and this is the main breeding season. Late spring/early summer they will be chasing does like crazy.

While I see a little more rutting activity this time of year, they NEVER stop chasing. Trust me, I live amongst em and they have love on their mind 24/7/365. I see 30-100 axis a day and have killed tons of does for meat, I have never killed a buck. I've always let others shoot the bucks but have decided to finally kill one. I am being particular but have seen one that has my interest. Not sure just how big he is but he might be big enough!!! He is on a friend of mines place and he just sent me a text saying he is in his field right now. I'm not mad enough at him right now to get off my lazy butt and go shoot him! Maybe this evening.

They have been rutting pretty hard here at the house for a couple weeks.

Didn't get the big one. My brother saw him several times but I was never with him. OK I slept in!!! We did kill 2 smaller bucks and one doe. Had a camp out with about 40 folks on Saturday night so axis k-bobs and chicken fried steak were on the menu. Here is the little buck I killed.
