    Schemes and scams?

Was discussing the subject lately and remembered overhearing something at a public place. This was back once upon a time when I could still tolerate a certain public library. ☺
While minding my own business doing research I couldn't help hearing a man and young woman discussing something he was obviously there to recruit her for. I didn't hear the whole pitch, but knew right away whatever it was all about was without a doubt illegal and just wrong.

This guy had his presentation down well and obviously had been at it a while. The first thing that really raised alarm bells was when he told the young woman that he'd need two credit cards on file of hers. It was mentioned that whenever their group met out of town at hotels, if there were any complaints against her they'd (the group) automatically put charges on her cards. Complaints such as noisy kids running through halls or anything they deem to be a complaint in any form. I didn't try to stick around for the purposes of learning more. The whole thing wreaked of some kind of secretive, scam operation they had going.

Anyone heard of anything that sounds similar?

I'd have leaned over and asked, "How can I gat in on this grand scheme?" He would have shut down and you would have saved her problems downstream.

Selling organic coffee, selling weightloss stuff, selling energy drinks, all of them are ponzi schemes and none of them work. Had a buddy in highschool that was all into that stuff he would spend more time and energy on get rich quick schemes than he would on a real job where he would actually make money.
