You might as well asked, what is the best cooler, truck, bow, arrows, broad heads and the list can go on forever.
The only advise I will give you is buy one from a dealer and not a big box store.
Look for a mower that has a welded deck and not a stamped deck and buy the largest deck you can afford or can get through the door to wherever you will store it when you are not using it.

If deciding between them, look at the motors real good. My buddy is a dealer for both and said the Kubota's come back all the time with problems but the Gravely's hardly ever come back. He bought a Gravely himself and talked me into one as well. I will say this, if you go for the Gravely, look at the commercial model. I know it cost more, but he told me I didn't really need the commercial model for my 0.84 acres, but hindsight is 20/20 and I wish I had bought more mower personally. The one I have just doesn't cut the best and bogs down quite a bit.
If you aren't going to keep it between these two, look at Scags. My step dad has been mowing yards commercially for as long as I can remember and Scags are his mower of choice. He puts plenty hours on every year and rarely has problems. I have mowed for him plenty times and I will be buying a Scag for my next mower as they just seem to have that little bit extra that makes them nicer all the way around to me.
