Well, not too much to update. Models still all over the place, literally. Some show a powerful hurricane hitting the central/western coastline and some show a weak system skirting the western coast of Florida and into the Florida Panhandle. I can agree, if this one takes off over the weekend and becomes a strong storm then it will dig farther into the Gulf of Mexico. If it stays on the weak side then it will probably stay in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico and shoot northward.
Just got through looking at vis satellite imagery of 99L. Even though convection is still firing off in the area, it is still very unorganized and has a ways to go if it is going to stack. I don't see that happening today from the looks of it. If it does I would look for that to be late Saturday and into Sunday.
It looks like another Cape Verde system or two rolling off of Africa in the Longe Range. Bonesplitter pointed that out to me earlier.Last edited by Johnny; 08-26-2016, 02:34 PM.
