    Arrow Weight ?

Ok I read the other threads, but.
I get the adding weight to the arrow but is it a hit and miss deal or is there some kind of a guide line.
I am at 31 grams 29 draw using 100 Gr Muzzy 66 lbs and no problems so should I adjust.

No that's a good weight. Your tuning around 7.2gn per lb.

I have used the gamut of weights on arrows. Has a 6.2 gpi (HCA arrows) stiff carbon arrow blow up on me when shooting thru a chrono, never again. Normally I shot a 410 grain arrow at 314 fps, (Gold Tip 75/95 at 28") but went to a 560 grain arrow a few years ago (150 grains extra added up front) and now am shooting a 590 grain arrow out of my new Obsession Def Con 6 and the results are awesome. Looking at around 20+% FOC with these arrows. (150 grains with a 125 grain point) Very quiet and these give me more forgiveness and accuracy at longer distances than the faster, lighter arrows.

I started a thread titled FOC Increase. Enewman, Mudslinger, and bunches and bunches of others participated. It's gotten over 1k replies. It's not real active anymore. I started it because I had what I thought was a phenomenal shot on a ram that turned out to be marginal shot. All my buddies told me I had a good arrow and should expect a clean pass through shot.
My aforementioned shot devestated me. I watched it affect for more than 2 hours [emoji24] I was literally crying in the blind, I was 42 years old and this was my first animal with a bow. If my buddies like Sambo73 hadn't supported me like they did I was going to give all my archery gear away.

So I did manage to connect and get a good shot on a 30 pound pig. Still didn't get a clean pass thru like I was lead to believe. I had speed 264 fps with a 60 lb bow at 31.25 with a 410 grain arrow.
So I got on the internet a read till my mind exploded. I was more confused than ever. So I started the thread.
          Here's the overview.
Your perfect arrow will be as heavy as possible while maintaining an acceptable trajectory.
What's an accepted blue trajectory? Only you can determine that.
Weights good, unless it's on the back of your arrow. It'll push your arrow weight up front is Good! It's called FOC, Front of Center. It's measured in percentage.
          There' 3 groups
          Normal
          UFOC
          EFOC

I forget the percentages that make up the ranges.

I use momentum to calculate my arrows potential to penetrate. Some use Kinetic energy.
Kinetic energy is energy in all direction. Like smashing a stick of butter with the palm of your hand.
Where as momentum is energy is a single direction. Like cutting the same stick of butter with a knife.

Since we're talking butter let's use that to Segway into Broadheads. What cuts cold butter better? A sharp knife or a dull knife? Sharp one right? Same with tissue. The Broadhead design also influences an arrows potential to penetrate. Per Dr Ashby's reports it's a single bevel, fixed blade with a 3:1 ratio. 3 inches in length for every inch in width.

Let's move back on the arrow. The ferrule needs to be of smooth design tapering cleanly back to the insert, must be wider than the insert. If not you can loose 30% of your penetration potential.

Here's one of Dr Ashbys Reports
