Wooden box blind - Should I camo it or not?

i built a wooden box blind this year and just finished painting it green with a black interior.

It's going to be on a 5' tall metal base, in place of a pop-up I used all last year (which worked great, but ripped to shreds in the wind). It sits right under a big tree.

This was the setup last year:

Should I paint some black / brown "branches" or just blotch it up with some black / brown / tan? Or should I just leave it olive drab green?

    All the best,
    Glenn

I usually give my best 3rd grade camo job but in reality there's nothing you can do for a blind that to keep them from knowing it's there. Other than bury it and cover in dirt....seen a few of those with grass growing on them.

My next will be painted white with a red top or sliver like a cow trough....

I've never camouflaged one. Brush it in when the season gets closer.

Yeah, I'm sure they know it's there, as they stare intently right at the window opening every time they come to the feeder. I just sit still and when they get comfortable, turn and start eating, I ease into the shot. That's why I'm not sure if it's necessary to attempt to camo it.

        All the best,
        Glenn

If it was on the ground, it would be easier to brush it in. But it starts at the 5' high mark and goes up to 11'. I think building a brush pile that high / big may bring more attention to it.

          All the best,

Get ya some black paint and put some limbs on the stand. You have a nice tree behind it. Try to keep the "limbs" as same as the tree.

I wouldn't worry to much about it. They know it's there no matter what we do. The camo is more for us than for the deer.
If someone came into your living room and put in a new sofa your gonna notice it no matter the color.

I'd camo it as a way to protect the wood from rotting, plus it looks cool. I'd certainly paint the inside of the blind black as well, it makes quite the difference

I'd you want to, by all means camouflage it. But it's not going to perform any better.

I'd camo it, or at least keep it painted. It will make them last/preform longer.

This is probably the best explanation I've seen.

One thing you might consider - I like to paint black "tree trunks" over the windows so they look the same whether open or closed.

It's completely painted - everything. The frame was painted black before I started adding the walls, and I painted the walls inside and out with two coats of paint - Black on the inside, OD Green on the outside.

Frame and interior walls painted black:

Walls attached to frame, frame taken apart, and exterior painted green:
