    All this talk about black........

I need to repaint my front fence . Of course Id love an AR15, but I'll hold back for now. Need some advice on painting over rust. The front fence on my property is traditional pipe fencing/frame with hog panels welded to it. The black paint is faded out and rust is coming thru. Man I would hate to grind three acres worth of fence !!! Is there a primer I can spray over it or should I just hit it with rustoleum and move on ??? I recently re-painted my lean-to that was in similar shape and the rust bled thru the paint (sand colored paint). Calling all metal guys......

You could use Por-15, but it wouldn't be cheap.

Ive used some stuff called oshflow (not sure if the spelling is right) It is an acid that will eat the rust and prime. Worked really well for me. Its like water so you can just brush it on really quick.

I got some acid at Sherwin Williams that kills rust and then painted with rustinhibiting paint.

I've seen spray paint meant to paint over rusty metal without cleaning it off, I assume that it's available by the gallon as well. I don't remember the name.

I would hit the roughest spots with a wire brush and paint some rust neutralizing primer on it.

Ospho is correct and is what you want to use. Buy a small container as it is thinner than water and goes a long way.
