My oldest son is graduating high school tomorrow. His life has been tied to baseball, and he has had an outstanding HS career. 4 year varsity starter, 4 years in the playoffs, 3 Bi District Championships, 2 year team captain, 2 year 1st Team All District Pitcher, District Defensive MVP Jr year, and we are waiting to hear what accolades he gets this year, as there is still a team from our district in the playoffs. He finished this season 8-2, with 9 complete games, 4 complete game shut outs, 70 innings pitched, 90ks, 2 earned runs for a 0.2era. His best game this season was a complete game shut out, 1 hitter, with 15ks against Hardin in the playoffs. He will be playing college baseball at Wharton County Junior College next season.
I wanted to do something special for him for graduation that had to do with baseball, so I was able to get one of his HS jerseys from the school, and my parents made him a shadow box. I had previously bought him a custom wood bat with his name engraved on it along with his jersey number. I had all his team and coaches sign it. The bat, one of his old gloves, jersey, action photo, game ball from a no hitter he threw his freshman year, and a list of his accomplishments will be put in the box. I think it turned out great. Mom told me they still have a couple coats of stain to put on it.
