    Javalinas

We have a lease off of 90 in between Uvalde and Bracketville. This is our first year on it and was wondering if there were Javalina on it. What do yall think?

Unfortunately for you, likely yes! You will grow to dislike them worse than feral hogs... They cannot be controlled like hogs can since they are a game animal. With hogs, you can shoot 'em, trap 'em and whatever you want. With javelina you can shoot 2/year each! So if you have a lot of them, you'll need a lot of "guests" to help you out...

I used to have a lease in Bracketville and they were plentiful. I'm sure they still are.

I bet you do. I used to hunt that area, just about every sit we saw a group.

Yes there will be Javalina down there and unfortunately for you they are a game animal and the meat cannot be wasted. Good luck trying to eat one of those little stinkers

Ive hunted with a buddy near there and havent seen them. He has seen a few but not that many.

I miss Javalinas. Chasing us up trees, attacking our dogs, etc

Kill em! they make good tamales

Does this variety drink or smell like coffee?

I have pondered whether I'd want Javis on a lease. I have determined that the answer is yes and no.

I like to bow hunt them on foot. It is fun as heck. But since you only get 2, once you are tagged out... they would just be a pain. Unlike hogs, you can't just shoot one when you see it, any time, day or night, time of year, etc.

I could see it getting old quick. However... if I was on a place where I could bring guests out during the offseason, I might tolerate it because then I could bring friends out and introduce them to the absolute fun that IS javelina hunting on foot with a bow.

they are a bless and a curse... just depends on your situation and how you look at it.

I've only been able to get out there twice, but a guy that fills our feeders has been out there quite a bit and hasn't seen any either. I was kinda hoping there was some, but after the comments I hope there isn't.

That's a pretty big area and it will depend on where you are in the area. Are you north or south of 90? How far west? We are just off the Nueces north of 90 and we don't have any. In general the farther west and/or south you go the more likely you will have them.

Our camp is literally on 90 and were right across from the windmills. Pretty much right in between Uvalde and Bracketville.
