Seen my first OC, in Rockwall, in the Parking lot, I thought it was cool. I would open carry , if I got my License again.. its a choice, that's the best part. its not anyone's business, like or dislike...IMO
Never done it on purpose and don't plan to. I do carry and when I get in and out of my truck I take it out inside the truck and put it into the console for a couple of reasons.
1. it is easier to get at than in my pocket.
2. I don't want an accidental discharge in my pocket for some reason with the barrel pointed toward the twins.
Sometimes I carry it in my hand going from my house out to the truck. None of my neighbors has ever said anything that I am aware of.
I've seen it twice. Once in Home Depot, guy carrying an M&P Shield in a Serpa holster, the other at the tax office paying for vehicle registration, a car dealer I bought a truck from once, carrying a nickel plated 1911 with engraving and pearl grips in an open top leather belt slide. I wasn't worried about either one, but I found it interesting that my impression of each was totally different, based on what they carried and how it was displayed.
I am still waiting for all the streets running red with blood, shoot out's on every corner, hair pulling, and general mayhem like a few predicted on this site.
I have not seen a single person open carry. What i have seen, is a huge increase in 30.06 signs, likely brought on by fearful businesses looking into the 30.07 sign, then finding out about the 30.06 and the factual laws about CC. Because of that, I'm not a fan of the open carry debate. I support that it was a win for gun rights, but at a cost of even more places becoming off limits to me, which is kind of redundant since i don't open carry.

most around here that were posted on jan 1 have come down. it was all a knee jerk reaction to the new law. I have a feeling in a year or so, there will be very few still up.

I hope so, but it seems like I'm just now noticing them. Mostly at places I've been going to but never noticed until recently.... gas stations, banks, mom n pop shops, etc. Even a dr office inside a hospital that is also posted. Paranoid people!!!!
CC is OK at our church, but not OC. I've seen one so far, in the credit union, but based on the man's clothing, I'd say he's a detective or other plain clothes LEO.
I can't figure out how such a "pro gun" state like Texas will not allow you to carry in certain places, and businesses are allowed to post .30-06 and .30-07 signs that do not allow you to carry into their business. I've spent a lot of time in the state of Washington and they are very liberal, especially in Seattle. They have almost no rules about where you can and cannot carry. There are no .30-06 or .30-07 type signs. I've never seen any sign that even mentions handguns, other than at several indoor shooting ranges. Those signs simply state "all guns must be in a case or in a holster". Why is this, Texas lawmakers?
