No you won't have pain forever. I have had more problems than a run over dog..... cause I got run over. Lot's of busted bones, ribs, sternum, back, neck, leg all at the same time. The older you are the slower you heal but I'm not always in pain. Four month recovery for me.

Good thinking to protect your head on the way down. There are a lot of fatalities due to head injuries in a fall. Hope you recover soon.
