Neighbor tried shooting my drone down

So I just got a new drone and was out flying around today. My neighbor's daughter down the street (3 kids and still lives with parents) comes flying out of there house asking if it's my drone, I said yup sure is, then she goes inside.

I'm out mowing about 45 minutes later and the neighbor guy (her dad) pops off at me about my drone and it's an invasion of privacy, that he was shooting at it with his pellet gun and was going to shoot it with his 12 gauge. I politely told him that wouldn't be a good idea and would be a $1200 mistake on his part, not counting any civil charges for reckless discharge of firearm. He tried telling my that it wouldn't have mattered as it would be me replacing it and not him.

The conversation needed with me advising his to read up on the laws, as I was flying over his place just passing by, not taking pictures or videos (200' above the ground).

Oh the joys of neighbors. Funny thing was this guy is about the noisiest of all of them on my street.

Eh, I'm not a fan of people flying drones over someone else's home. Take it to the park or the ranch. I can see where he's coming from, though verbally threatening to shoot it down was a bit much.

Got my popcorn ready. This should be fun to watch since previous threads had a lot on here saying they'd shoot'em down too.

I tend to lean this way as well. That being said, I don't think I would mind someone flying their drone over my property as long as they were just passing through

I agree with him. Plenty of places to fly it beside over other ppls houses.

Tell him if he shoots it down you'll put the pics you got of his ol' lady on the internet. That'll shut him up.

I agree with him, however don't agree with his tactics. I'm not a fan of them flying over my place either.

It would be a little different if I was hovering over his place taking pics and videos. Flying 200' over as I'm going to the river is a little different. Either way, it's a good thing he didn't shoot it down as that would have been an expensive mistake on his part. Plenty of cases out there where people shot them down and then had to pay to replace

That's a violation of his air rights IMO. If I did have one I'd keep it on my property.

He wouldn't of even hit it at 200ft high and moving at that. Keep on flying

Did it have to go over his house? I have a drone and I do not fly it over anyone's house.

It didn't go over his house. It's all .5 acre lots and open field behind. Flew over the back of my place down towards the river threw the open fields.
