Any one every eat ladyfish (skipjack)?

One of my son's caught about a 2-3# ladyfish. I thought I'd fillet it out the meat is really mushy. Anyone ever eat one because it doesn't look very appetizing.

Yeah it's very mushy. Good cut bait in the surf though.

From what I've been told it's one of those fish you cook on a cedar plank throw the fish away and then eat the cedar plank

Fun as all get out to catch though. Man I miss fishing the salt been way to long

I've tried it while out on a 3 day shark fishin trip 40 miles down the beach. Wasn't a fan, but ate it anyways.

Yes I have. When stationed in Hawaii. It is a delicacy there. The way I ate it was you freeze it for a few days. Then thaw, use a rolling pin to mush it up. Then cut the tail off and roll towards the tail. The meat comes out leaving most of the bones. Then you make a fish cake. It was awesome if I remember correctly. Never ate it again when I got state side.

I've made it a point to not eat anything that shoots poop everywhere when caught.
But hey. I'd try it in a pinch.
