Colored mulch in vegetable garden safe?

I have a lot of black colored mulch I need to get rid of. I used it as a floor in sons playground but it to sharp to walk on. Soo can I throw in my vegetable garden or does it contain harmful dyes and chemicals? Couldn't find much online about harmful. Apparently what I bought is old pallets mulched up and dyed with carbon chemicals.
    I bought it at Lowe's.

I would be afraid to use colored mulch in my garden. No telling what was used to obtain the coloration.

This is your best deal: http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...d.php?t=591041

You might even get him to come down on the price!

Yeah dangit that's my concern also about the mulch. Dangit what a waste of money on my part. Not sure rubber is something we want all over the yard..think we are going straight sand.

I won't use colored mulch n my flower beds due to the dyes used, why use them on vegetables that you plan to eat?

Absolutely not. Head to your local mulch yard and read the MSDS on the 250 Gallon containers of the dye and you probably wouldn't use it anywhere.
