I'm looking to buy used in the next couple of months. Is there a certain year model on these to watch out for? What would be considered high miles? I see some in the $15k, 2008-09 range 120/130k on them. I'll be looking for a 4 door if that matters. I also know it depends on how well they have been maintained so what kind of questions should I be asking? I don't speak truck very well so looking for some good advise here. Thanks.

First Generation Tundras , pre 2006 , are nice ; bigger than a Tacoma but smaller than the new Tundras . I have a 2005 Tundra 4 Door 4 WD Limited and I am sure my sons will never let me get rid of it . If you are on Facebook there is a very good group of owners that share maintenance and other suggestions . . .

I agree. I downsized to a 1500 in 08 when the gas was so high. Just bought another one.

I'd been in crew cab 3/4 ton 4x4 diesels since 2000. Shopped tacos for about year or better and found an 06 4x4 with 28,392 miles on it in october. I wanted a long bed but couldnt find a used one that wasnt north of 22 or 23K that didnt have over 100,000 miles. We've taken it on weekend trips and Ive loaded it down with corn which kept me from hauling my ranger.
I dont miss the 3/4 at all BUT I have a work vehicle and dont have to drive the taco but once or twice a week. Wife still has a full size truck to pull the boat.
I need tires and Im struggling with adding a little lift and some bigger shoes but I sure like the 23 or 24 MPG highway
