Oil tanks and lightning don't mix! Live

Just witnessed lightning light off an oil tank south of Runge. (Not my company's asset). Called 911 and tried stop traffic but idiots still driving thru it!

Dang! Back in '85, I was up on top of a set of tanks when lightening lit off the flame arrestor. That'll make you pucker. I couldn't get far enough, fast enough.

Wow... People kept driving through all that smoke ?? Must be the same kind of folks that try driving on flooded roads.

                    Is that a saltwater disposal?

Every bad storm down here does that to a SWD. I can count atleast a dozen disposals that have been blown up from lightning strikes in the past 4 years in the Eagle Ford alone.

Happen at the ranch next door to my lease several years ago. I have a thread about it somewhere.

Did they have fiberglass tanks on that facility? Those seem to be the best guarantee for a lighting strike

They do but there are three metal tanks nearer road. They are only ones on fire
