    ATV pull behind brush mowers

Starting to get more serious at buying a pull behind mower. At first I though I might not use it enough to buy one, but think about it I may use one almost as much as my zero turn. I have about 12 acres and a pond that is about an acre, also some ditches that never seem to dry out enough to use a zero turn. The zero turns don't do very well in wet ground, I have been stuck more time than I can count.

I think I am leaning to the brush cutters than the finish cut due to the versatility and the area I need to cut don't need to be perfect. The swisher is quite a bit cheaper but the reviews are mixed, some say they are great and some having bearing and belt issues. The DR brand have great reviews but are bit more pricey.

Looking for some opinions between the DR tow behind brush cutter and the swisher tow behind brush cutter.

    Thank you!!!

DR is a good product. That said, I owned a Swisher for a couple of years without an issue besides normal wear and tear, and sold it to a co-worker about 2 years ago.. He is still using it and hasn't had a problem.

Swisher did have a period with the inherent problems you mentioned but offered a motor mount adapter kit to resolve the problem, and also made the kit standard design.... I believe that problem has been rectified

I too have been researching pull behind mowers - I found the best there is - heavy duty steel similar to a shredder - Kunz is the brand - pricey for sure but look to last forever -

Got a Swisher at the Farm.

It runs like a champ, and does a great job.

We modified the hitch to use a ball, and the tires are now of the flat free variety.

I have a swisher and love it. As stated above I modified the hitch to ball attachment. Great pull behind mowers.

X2 on both of these upgrades - especially the tires. I had a Swisher brush cutter version for two years, it would chop up anything I could drive over with the atv. If it was something really thick, cut over it one way, then loop around and go over it again from the side.

I saw those as well, not sure if I want to give up that kind of coin. Is it that much better than the DR?

So you aren't considering a Swisher?

We have a Swisher at the lease. Does pretty good on brush, not so good on grass.

I think it will last much longer - they are designed for commercial use

Not sure yet, if the DR or Kunzis considerly better an no. By looking into a lot of reviews I am not sold that swisher has fixed there bearing issue yet. Also the belt seems to be a bear to replace. Has anyone replaced a belt on a swisher?

Sounds like you're leaning towards the DR or kuntz, which will most likely serve you well. If the extra money isn't an issue, then you've answered your own question lol. I've had a swisher for over 15 yrs, changed the belt 2 times, and that's it. Original pulleys still working. I used mine to mow 2 acres at my house for many years. I just use it for wet areas, rough places, and mainly deer lease now. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again if need be.

Is yours a Finish cut or Rough cut?
