Fishing around Destin?

Is anyone familiar with the fishing around Destin, FL? The wife & I are thinking about going to Florida for 4-5 days next spring. I was thinking Islamorada, but a friend of ours has a beach house at Destin. I'm sure the fishing would be far superior at Islamorada, but we'd have a free place to stay in Destin. Thoughts? Is the fishing decent around Destin? TIA

I've had good fishing in Destin, but the Islamorada/Key West area gives you a lot more options.
