Been working on my new jeep and it is ready for a paint job. Minor rust in a few areas so I'd like to do this soon. I plan to go to the beach and use it for hunting. I know that a shiny paint job looks great but I am afraid I am going to put it through a lot and scratch it up. However even though I like the line x coated ones I'm afraid I will loose any resale value. Jeep is a 1984 renegade.

good question about resale. you may get more from someone in south Texas. thorn brush country. money saved on the car wash will ad up. it weighs a lot more than 6 mils of paint. so that will be more for gas. are you going to keep it for 10 years? if so then its a tool. treat it right and you have a tool.

Nice CJ.
Repainted Cj's always look repainted and cheap to me.
And rhino, herc and the rest the bedliners applied to the exterior of the vehicle don't add value, they kill it and ensure that Jeep can't be properly restored or preserved. Don't do it, brother.
Between rust and clowns with sawzalls, there are few good CJ's left.
My .02 is properly treat the rust, polish and wax what looks like factory paint and use it like you want to, beach, ranch, she can take it.
Gasmonkey garage for example, loves to polish and clear coat partially rusted classics and they look killer.
Good luck.
