I'm likely going to invest in some AR's to turn a profit as I know that game, but haven't kept up with the stock market.

Just trying to slowly increase the amount of .22 mag I have, I can imagine it becoming almost unobtainable if another panic occurs. I have enough of the other stuff I (seldom) shoot, and enough components for my hunting rifles for the rest of my hunting days if needed. Except maybe another box of 180gr 7mm Bergers and another bottle of H1000, guess I'll address that little shortage this weekend............

It's not just government that's a potential threat, it's large scale civil unrest caused by societal breakdown, something we are much closer to than many people realize. Remember the Rodney King riots? Katrina? It wouldn't take much to repeat those on a nationwide scale. Katrina X 10,000. It could be economic collapse, for example. Or the electrical grid could go down, throwing the entire U.S. back to the 1700s in a matter of seconds. The CDC calculated that if our power grid went down, 90% of the population would be dead within 2 years.
I'm not a foil hat paranoid or a prepper fanatic or anything, but at the same time I'm not going to stick my head in the sand and pretend these things are impossible, because they aren't. It would NOT take much to throw us over the cliff. So yeah, I try to keep some extra ammo stocked back just for those "you never know..." possbilities.
For example, people on welfare get their food using "EBT cards," which are sort of like a debit card, only the funds come from the government. Suppose those funds stopped? Suppose EBT cards just stopped working? It would go something like this:

Are you stocking up on ammo?

I remember looking at them and wondering if I should buy some, but then I remembered I just don't shoot my 17HMR much, if at all, so I didn't bother. They are too destructive on small game and I don't really get to hunt varmints where destructive is just fine!
It wasn't readily available here but then again I wasn't ever hoarding it. Just buying enough to hunt with. Love my 17hmr. Pigs in the ear, coons and jackrabbits... Plus a pile of Eurasian dove at the lease watering hole. They make such a pretty pillow exploding puff [emoji12][emoji23]
