    German Short-haired Pointers

I'm looking to get my first dog, and am starting to fall in love with this breed. Any of yall have a GSP? Im waiting to graduate (Dec.) before I buy so im not trying to balance work school and a new companion, but want to be prepared going into it. Im very active myself so Im not worried about getting the exercise, but I want a good hunting lineage (this is the GS after all). Any advice direction yall could give me would be much appreciated as far as where to look, prices to be expected, etc. Feel free to PM or reply to thread.

Happy mothers day to the moms out there, mine is still upset that I said my dogs name (jake) before I said mom.

No matter how active you are, you will never be as active as a GSP. LOL

You have to exercise their minds to wear them out.

I never thought I'd have a dog with more energy than my Boykin, only had her a month but she plum wears him out. She's the easiest puppy I've ever had, don't know if that's normal or not.

My next dog will b a GSP. My BIL and I hunt with his and it's the best **** bird dog I have ever seen.

Energy is a big thing... That dog can run for miles without slowing down.

hellrazor, everything I have read has said that the shedding is minimal, as long as you give a nice brush once a week or so.

She will, I got her from a client of my dog trainer. He's training the siblings from the last litter and they are amazing.

It's short and not too bad. Good food makes a huge difference in shedding in my experience.

Just got my first GSP and between him and my 2 labs there is plenty of energy available.

Loads of energy very good dogs, you MUST keep them busy. They are great hunting dogs as well as good with kids. I love mine but it's work for sure

This is my Dad's gsp. He's straight nuts and will chase a ball sun-up to sun-down if you let him.

Couldn't agree w/ you more. Growing up with labs I thought I could handle a GSP. Orbea has taught me patience if anything else. Great breed non the less.

Very hyper dogs. But they're fun to train with. I got one(in my avatar) that is starting to kick in on what I want. Beautiful dogs as well
