Anyone else have my kind of luck?

I've been watching this buck since he was in velvet and I have pictures of him almost every night. I hunted hard for him since opening weekend. I actually had him come in on me saturday morning but, couldnt get a shot. I got the call Sunday night that the guy on the other side of the pipeline from me shot him Sunday evening with a gun He had it all, even a double throat patch. He ended up scoring just under 150" (and this is east texas).

Well I hope it was a youth not an adult guy. last weekend was youth weekend. Adults get to play with smoke poles this weekend....

Ground Threat had that happen to at least 4 deer last season.

I sure hate that for you man. Hang in there though, he isn't the only biggun. I know where you are coming from, since we've adopted the 13" rule, we've had to pass on a lot of "man he's close" ones. Makes you wonder, who'll end up ground checking him....

                  Man I feel for you

Few years back I watched the biggest buck I'd ever seen all season. It was the first year I'd seen him, and thought he was 3.5.

I went to the ranch not knowing that he'd been shot by a neighbor 2 days earlier. I spent 2 weeks looking for him. The next year was a bad drought - the deer had 2 points fewer and not quite as much tine length and still scored 170 (meaning he was easily 175-180 the year prior)

I was just sick over it, but that's the way it goes I guess.

Had my FIL shoot a monster Axis buck right out from under me 4 years ago. I had even asked him not to and he told he wasn't interested in the bucks because he didn't like the meat. No more hunting with him for me.
