Getting into a Winchester gun safe?

The house we bought today, the previous owner left a Winchester gun safe. Looks to be about a 16 gun model. Anyway, he did not leave the combo and he has been a PITA to deal with the whole time, so I don't want to try getting in contact with him to maybe get the combo. There is a box with it that has a brand new key pad. There is also this weird key with it but I don't know what it goes to. How do I get it open short of calling a locksmith. Can I contact Winchester for help?

I'll PM you the default code if it's an electronic - most people are too lazy to change it from the default

On a lot of digital safes, you can take the digital part off and there is a place to put that "master" key in that will open the safe. Not sure Wins are that way, but I had a Sentry that was just like that

Lift up on the front section of the keypad. There should be a slot for the key.

Doubt anything is in the safe. This guy hadn't paid his HOA or property taxes so i doubt there is anything of value in there.
