    CHL fail?

The unidentified man who was killed was shopping with his wife at a Walgreens in Arlington, west of Dallas, when they saw a female employee who had been shot in the leg near the store entrance, an Arlington police spokesman told reporters at the scene. The man went to his vehicle, retrieved his weapon and confronted the man who had shot the woman, Lieutenant Christopher Cook said.

Man, apparently the killer is in the army and the guy who tried to stop him an ex-marine.

        Sheesh

              Realizing there is another thread.....

A firearm in a vehicle has no requirement of a CHL/LTC. How is this a CHL fail when the dead guy had to go back to his vehicle to get a gun?

It a horrible thing for him to die....but i see 2 things wrong 1)its says he went back to his truck to retrieve his weapon and then go confront the guy who was leaving anyway.
                2) as a CHL holder he let the attacker whom he knew has a gun get close enough to him to knock his gun away ( read that on another site )

In this case I agree because the guy killed had his wife with him. My first duty is protect my family by getting them away from the situation. if unable to egress then do what you got what to do ....

By trying to intervene instead of getting description of perp and vehicle and calling the good guys. Sounds like the bad guy was leaving, so the chl holder was not in danger. I understand wanting to help.....but that's what the guys in blue are for.

Edit: One of the stories I read that the dead guy was a cl holder.....but I don't see it in the story I posted. Either way.....protect yourself and family, get out of harms way. Call 911

Easy to sit behind the keyboard and say what he should have done, when it could happen to anyone of us. I knew who he was. Just pray for his wife and kids that are now left behind.

You do see the irony in your reply while quoting a "good guy in blue," right ?

I think TVC is saying a CHL/LTC was not required.

Trails, I know we don't agree on political candidates but I already made the same comments in the other thread and I got razed for it.

Yes....I don't think I got my point across. He's looking at having a weapon in his car vs. being a chl holder. I wasn't trying to make that comparison.
