    lightning bugs

What happened to all the lightning bugs? Saw about ten or so tonight, kinda sad. When I was a kid up in Missouri there were tons of lighting bugs.

I cannot remember the last time I saw them myself.

We have had lots of them in the past week or so, I'm outside of Salado though. I love seeing them every evening.

I saw an amazing light show in North Austin yesterday. Most lightning bugs I've ever seen at once in my life.

Have seen more this year than the last five years put together. Hope they are coming back in big numbers. We would spend evenings as kids putting them in jars and watching them light up.

Same here when I was a kid. You could almost read a book with the amount of light they produced. Now if I see ten or so I get excited. Makes me sad that my son hasn't gotten the same experience as I.

Never seen them in the Houston area. My kid gets them in Austin.

I see them routinely at Brazos Bend State Park and at my deer lease but nothing like the numbers when I was a kid.
