Turkey hunting near grapeland tx??

Was talking to some folks and they were saying that they have taken turkey off their place near grapeland. in the years I have been hunting up there I haven't seen heard or even found sign of turkey and was wondering if there is some truth behind this?

Iv heard of turkey being seen around Elkhart but remember being skeptical and thinking it was someone's pet.
