    camping in corpus

looking at taking the family down over the 4th of july. gonna pitch a tent. I was gonna try to get one of the sites the state park has with a shade structure and close the bathrooms and all, but its already full. cant find anywhere else to pitch a tent besides just out on the beach, which is fine, but I was hoping for some shade at least. anyone have any recommendations?

I was thinking Goose Island State Park had some 1st come 1st served sites. I know many times I have gotten there on a Thursday and picked site # 205 if no one was in it. Doesn't have a shelter but is real shady and has a table. The other spots in the 200's are also primitive sites.

One must make their own shade on the Texas coast. That weekend I would suggest PINS. There will be waaaaaay to many people in Corpus or Port A.

I'm beginning to realize that about shade. What are the rules about camping on PINS? Who's in charge. Does it cost, and who do I pay? Where can and can't I go?

I 2X on PINS. I was raised in CC and now live in the DFW area. My trips to CC always include a ride out to PINS.

Basic rules: No guns, Don't drive like an idiot, Stay off the dunes, Not wise to try and make it down at high tide, Take a camara

if your military affiliated the naval base has a camping area on base, not many people fish the water on base, they also have a nice r.v site, you can rent a small camper from the m and r for about
                        $60 a day.
