How are you gonna feel when you get to the different pump, and he is there and says "I knew you wouldn't go back to the other pump, so came over here to see you"

What I didn't like is he made it a point to sneak up on me. I know he planned on scaring me for some reason.

I work in a sketchy part of town so I deal with people asking for money/rides/beer/bug spray/etc all day. I am polite for the most part as long as they are, but if a guy sneaks up behind me like that I'm not sure whether I would laugh or get real serious.

You can not apply reason to the actions of a crazy man. Just keep on your toes. Good job on not letting him catch you unaware

I've had to deal with them before and have even given them a few dollars here and there. I feel sorry for them but I also know there are people who will steal and lie and hurt people to get money. I've never had a needy person approach me like that. It didn't scare me but I definitely paid attention to where he was without making a big deal about it. I could see his shoes although I had my head tilted like I wasn't paying him any attention but he couldn't tell for the bream of my hat. I had my eyes focused on what he was doing the whole time. I wasn't going to be overly friendly but not rude. I didn't want any sort of confrontation if there didn't need to be. But I was more ready than he'd have figured if there needed to be.

He was a strange acting character. Whether he intended to be or not. I have a pretty good sense of who I can trust and who I can't just by meeting someone and there was something I didn't trust about him. I could be wrong though, maybe he's a nice guy that has lead a hard life and truly does need help. That sometimes happens too.
