Been mowing this evening and it died on me. Figured I was out of gas, I was, filled it back up, won't start. Won't even turn over, no clicks, nothing. Granted, the yard was BAD.....like pasture bad, but the thing was cutting it just fine with the deck all the way up. I'm having to make two passes in this area because I couldn't get to it to mow it since I've lived here because of the creek running through the yard.
Anyway, I'm thinking maybe I overheated it and it has a thermal protection switch? It's been over an hour now sitting in the back yard, I'll go try it again shortly, but in the mean time, any thoughts?
Check the pto switch make sure its down. And the control handles are all the way out. There is no thermal switch. If it still is not working call the store in the morning and ask for mike so we can come get it or they can send me to look at it.
Okay, handles out, pto down, oil full. It's pretty far from the house, and you'd have to push it across some really soupy mud, plus it's supposed to storm tomorrow. It was going fine, not even on a cutting pass really, just cleaning up the stragglers it missed on the first pass and it just quit. Anything riser you can think of to get it running so I can at least get it back to the garage tonight?
Safety switch could have come unplugged. On each side of the battery is a grey plastic switch with a black wiring harness hooked to it. If not that I would have to look at it. Dont forget the hyd bypass pull handles on the back side of each transmission and pull the levers in to release the park brake itll make it easier to push.
Jerry, buddy, I'm not sure you understand. The mower is on the other side of a drainage that runs through my yard, and quite a ways away, and no bridge to cross on. It was barely dry enough to cross this evening, but I felt like I had to do it, or it would be months before I could get over there again with the rain coming tomorrow and the rest of this week. I can't get it across the drainage by pushing it, and you can't drive a truck over there either. I'm afraid if I don't get it across tonight, it'll have to sit out in the weather for weeks. Sorry, but I'm not letting a $4000 mower with 3 hours on it sit out like that. And I can't be here tomorrow to wait for a service call, I have to be at work at 0800 for a day full of important meetings. The only thing I can think of is the PTO didn't disengage because it died while engaged, and that interlock won't let the thing crank until it's disengaged. Sorry, but I'm a bit frustrated right now, I've had the thing for less than a week and it's already broke.
Again, that section of yard was BAD, but the mower didn't bog down, and I was running on the highest setting (actually on the foot pedal lock) and it was still spitting clippings out when it quit running, now it won't do anything at all.
I cant think of anything else it could be with out looking at it. I understand where your coming from i would be upset also about it. I'm sorry its acting up being new but we will do everything we can to get it fixed.
Thanks man, I'm a little more calm now after a shower and a beer, but still pretty irritated. I know it's not your fault, and I apologize for being a rear end. I'll call in the morning.
Jerry is the man, got me all fixed up. Called me about 20 minutes till 11, said he was on the way. I told him I was too, and my office is only about 10 minutes farther away from the house than the shop is....like, I drive right past the shop to get home, so he couldn't have been here more than a few minutes before I was. By the time I pulled into the driveway, Jerry was running around on the mower.
Apparently, I need to figure out a way to prevent the ignition wires from vibrating off the ignition switch.....that shouldn't be too hard.
