    Shipping Container Foundation Question

Hey guys, I wanted to get yalls opinion on what would be the best route to go for a cheap and easy foundation for 2 20' shipping containers side by side. I was thinking of either 4"x12"x12" concrete blocks or railroad ties?

What have yall used in the past that has worked well?

    Thanks!

No experience with containers specifically but I'd recommend pouring a few steel reinforced concrete piers. Should be able to pick up 80# bags of sackcrete to get the job done inexpensively.

I'd stay away from ties if it were my project.

I used large mobile home blocks topped with treated wood to level. I think they are 18x18x4 and provide a large food print

          This!

Animals can still dig under a rock pad but it will not be an extensive rattlesnake den if they are suspended in the air. The rock will drain quickly slowing potential corrosion.

The only one I've ever owned I sat on two 6 x 6's, one on each end. It worked great.

I made cement pads for each end. Used a laser to get each end the same height. Just form up and start Sakreting.

3 years ago when I got my Seacan I put down 2 used r/r ties at each end for a total of 4 on the ground. In 3 years the ties have settled nearlt 2 inches.

I'm moving it to another place and going to put down limestone road base so it doesn't settle and hopefully keep the termites from the floor.

If I had to use ties again, I would use 2 ties every 10 feet or so.

I just poured a sakrete base(dry) with rail road tires on top

They are only meant to be supported at the corners.

I put mine down on crushed iron ore base materiel for a couple years until I moved it to a slad under a large carport structure. Worked fine both places.

this is what I did. Then grouted up the holes on the skid. No snake den that way.

I used 4 railroad ties for my container and so far (1.5 years) haven't had any problems. Paid $25 for each of them.
